India appeal

L’Arche in India was founded in 1970. Since then five multi-faith communities have been developed across the country. Here people with learning disabilities have not just a home but access to healthcare, basic education and circles of support.

Rajeevan joined our Nandi Bazar Community 20 years ago.  His family had struggled and local people ridiculed him because he was different.

However, the love and acceptance he found in the Community has helped Rajeevan to mature into a confident young man. He has learnt new skills and is now an excellent and very popular lottery ticket salesman in his village shop! The money he earns helps him to support his family.

In the last year, fourteen new people with disabilities were welcomed into Indian L’Arche communities and new projects are currently being planned in Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Goa.

The National Leader of L’Arche India, says “This year, thanks to building stronger relationships with local people and businesses, we expect to raise 69% of our costs here in India. Our long-term goal is to become fully sustainable. However, we are not there yet and we still need your help”.

As L’Arche India continues to develop, voluntary donations from overseas are essential to maintain its high standard of support. Would you consider making a donation to our communities in India this lent?

£25 will bridge the gap between what L’Arche India can raise and the funding needed to provide each community member with housing, food, medicine, physiotherapy and circles of support for a month.
