Spring has Sprung
And our gardening project is very busy. If you have any spare plants, pots or gardening equipment we could use please contact us.
Taize prayer sessions
All are welcome to join our monthly Taize style prayer sessions taking place on the second Thursday of each month; the first being on Thursday 7th May at 7:30 pm in The Sycamore house.
One of the newer forms of prayer in the Community is found in the practice of Christian Meditation. Two friends of the Community, Bennie and Frances Pieters have generously given up their time to induct some of the assistants into this tradition, using resources provided by their connections to the World Community for Christian Meditation.
Eight to ten people now meet each week, with an opening prayer and reflection, followed by about 20 minutes of silent meditation. It enables people with and without disabilities to come together to pray without words, or complex theological ideas or images: just to be still in God’s presence at the end of a busy day, silently praying together.
Opening prayer from ‘The World Community for Christian Meditation’
Heavenly Father, open our hearts to the silent presence of the spirit of your Son.
Lead us into that mysterious silence where your love is revealed to all who call, Maranatha… Come, Lord Jesus.
Our connection to the WCCM continues to deepen: in spring, 2015, Jean Vanier and Fr Laurence Freeman will lead an international retreat at Trosly, France, for members of WCCM and L’Arche. Then in the summer, members of L’Arche Bognor Regis will be co-facilitators of their annual Community gathering, to be held in Swanwick, Derbyshire. For more details on both of these events, visit the World Community for Christian Meditation website.
